In the afternoon of July 22, Yang Jiemian, former President of Shanghai Institute for International Studies (SIIS) and Chairman of Academic Affairs Council of SIIS visited Shenzhen Foreign Affairs Office, delivering a talk and conducting in-depth exchanges titled on "New Normal of Anti-covid and New Tasks of Foreign Affairs at Local Level" .
Yang pointed out that foreign affairs work at the local level shall focus on the changes and characteristics of the new normal of covid, open up broader horizon, strengthen communication and cooperation internally and externally, expand knowledge, grasp new dynamics, find new ideas and form new synergies. Local foreign affairs offices shall seek new paths in keeping up with the situation and reality, meet new challenges in facing the contradictions and analyzing the problems, and find new methods in benchmarking advanced and changing ways of thinking. Shenzhen's foreign affairs work shall plan early, go deep and into details, and focus on implementation of the new missions and new tasks given by the central and provincial governments with the overall planning of the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Guangdong Province and the overall situation of the national foreign affairs work in mind.
After the talk, attendants to the meeting exchanged ideas. Cao Saixian, Director General of Shenzhen Foreign Affairs Office said that in the future, Shenzhen Foreign Affairs Office would factor in actual situation and flexibly use the valuable experience shared in this talk to make greater contributions to promote the internationalization of Shenzhen with high standards and create new fronts in foreign affairs work in Shenzhen under the new normal.
